Guest Speaker—Zadonna Slay, Savannah/Chatham CASA
January 9, 2014 @ 8:15 am - 9:00 am
Zadonna Slay has been Executive Director of Savannah/Chatham Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) organization since 2010. CASA’s mission is to provide training and supervision to volunteers who advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children who are under the jurisdiction of the Chatham County Juvenile Court. CASA’s program takes a holistic approach of the child’s psychological, physical, and educational needs and well-being to advocate for permanency in the child’s life. While the proceedings of permanency can be anywhere from six months to a year or more, the CASA program engages the child and provides consistent case management to make sure the child’s needs are addressed.
CASA is one of the agencies that received a financial grant from Kiwanis Club of Skidaway in 2012–2013; and Ms. Slay will speak to us about the need for CASA’s services, the impact CASA is having in our community, and volunteer opportunities.
